Travel Fun Fact

Koala ''Bear''

Despite the common misnomer, koalas are not actually bears. They are marsupials who have adapted to eat around 50 of the 800 species of eucalyptus leaves that can be found in Australia. Unfortunately, eucalyptus is not that nutritious, so koalas must sleep for 18-20 hours a day. Koalas also commonly suffer from a koala specific strain of chlamydia, which can cause blindness and reproductive issues. We saw this koala at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, Australia.
